There were a couple of anniversaries in 2019. August was the 15th anniversary of this sorely neglected blog (Facebook and life equally to blame, I suppose). And September marked 30 years of living in Richmond. I wonder what life would have been like if we hadn't moved here...
I was happy and relieved that my first event as president of the local historical society, a reception and exhibit in memory of two longtime members who recently passed away, was very successful and went off without a hitch. My Veep, the former president, assured me the president position was a piece of cake, so to speak. He lied. Currently there is a lot of politics involved, what with issues like poorly thought out solar ordinances destroying the rural landscape, and the threatened demolition by DEM of a historic house which was entrusted to its care in the late owner's will. All I want to do is stay home and read, knit, and watch the newest Great British Baking Show.
Knitting- At top is the adorable Rosebud cardi made for our newest great-niece, in a pretty speckled cotton.
Jean's Irish Hat has been in my queue a long time, and finally made it for my very Irish American friend Jan, partly as a thank you for her opening her monthly knitting group to the guild "Cast Offs", and partly because the hat screamed "Jan". I frogged the yarn for this from a vest I never wear so that I can make a few of these hats from the Donegal Tweed. I bought the cheap styrofoam head model at Michael's, and it comes in handy for hat blocking and modeling.
This On the Beach sweater was intended for me but unfortunately it only emphasizes my menopot. Luckily it fits my skinny minny daughter and she actually likes it.
Also...I am soooo looking forward to the impeachment of the Squatter in the White House, and must practice my grave dancing steps.
Menopot- hahaha. A new term :) Is that Kate, or a model??
The hat is beautiful.

We started blogging at the same time. In the beginning I really kept up, and I can’t blame Facebook in my case for its decline. I am good when on the Camino as there is nothing else to interfere.
Ah, the joys of the non-profit world (where I spent my entire career). I hesitate to get re-involved. Hope it settles down for you.
All the best from Spain.
