OK, two months of catch up. Since I'm still paying for Typepad I should blog at least monthly.
My Ravelry notes on the Still River Mill Cardigan:
My friend Lynn and I each bought the yarn and pattern from Still River Mill at the Connecticut Sheep and Wool Show in April 2019. Mine peach, hers blue. The pattern is not in the Ravelry database.
The cardis whipped up quickly, like less than a week, but there was not enough yarn as called for by the pattern (4 skeins) to complete it. So we took a field trip to the mill in Eastford CT to purchase one more skein. A lovely ride, and we had a personal tour of the lovely little mill, owned and staffed by women.
That extra skein gave me just enough to complete the sleeves. I got the suggested ribbon to stitch inside the edgings (grosgrain as we couldn’t find velvet) but haven’t sewn it in yet.
And notes for #18 Diagonal Ribbed Pullover:
I knit the back in plain stockinette. Now (May 2019) I find the chart impossible to follow, so may do the front in stockinette as well. Boring.
6/27/19- The front and sleeves went super fast. I did stick with stockinette. Since the Ripple has such an interesting texture, cables weren’t needed anyway. I only ribbed the sleeves but wish I’d done the back and front so it wouldn’t curl. Maybe I’ll knit it downwards for more length and add the 3-row rib.
I gave it low ratings because of the lack of clarity regarding the cable chart. It’s a good basic tee pattern otherwise.
Currently working on the Rosebud baby cardi.
I took part in Project Timberdoodle again this spring, and though I didn't hear even one this year on my route, as the project leader says that is still important information.
Since my archives mentor friend Betty died in April, I've been more active in the archives and historical society. As a matter of fact I'm now the president, yipes. Be careful what you volunteer for. As the former president of 30 years and I just switched places- he is VP now- hopefully things can carry on pretty much as they have.
