I guess a monthly blog post is as good as it's going to get for now. But this one includes lots of knitting.
I inherited my daughter's volunteer post in the archives of the town historical society two years ago. I had absolutely no experience, but met weekly with B, who for many years has worked in the archives. She is a fountain of knowledge, and patiently showed me the ropes of the accession computer program, the filing system, how to research and answer questions on genealogy and local history, post to the website, etc. I joined the historical society and when everyone else took a step backward, I ended up being the vice president, and also manage the Facebook page.
I'm very saddened to say that B is now in hospice. For a small town where nothing of worldwide importance has ever happened, the archives are large and need more help than two people could manage in a few hours a week. The HS president put out a call for volunteers and three people have stepped up. We'll try our best to do B proud.
I've joined the 2019 Ravelry Challenge. I surpassed my 2018 Challenge goal to finish 10 projects, so I upped my goal to 15. Shown at top is the #19 Capelet that I whipped out in a week! I'd had the yarn ready to knit this for several years. What spurred me to finish it was the Vogue Knitting KAL I joined on Ravelry: Knit # 19 in 2019.
I also joined the Knit a Very Easy Very Vogue pattern in 2019, and this project fit into both KALs:
That's the #19 Raglan Sleeve Pullover, knit with yarn that Kathy W destashed before she moved to Texas. Thanks, Kathy! I picked up the vintage buttons at an antiques store.
I had started the sweater in December, but the KAL moderators told me it would still count for the KAL. So when I finished it and posted it, I learned I'd won a prize for being the first to finish a project for the KALs, and a double dipper at that! I received a vintage VK magazine that I didn't have in my collection. Which spurred me to check to see which issues I have missing still, so I can order them off Ebay. Only a couple to go.
Little Coffee Bean #6, using Wool Ease and Plymouth Gina left over from the Ojo de Dios Shawl:
I've been working on this tweed sweater nearly two years, having finished the back and recently finishing the first side front. I love the pattern but it is slow going, and discouraging that there is a second front to do, as well as two sleeves that are just as large as the fronts.
Finally, a stealth project in the works uses all 15 beautiful colors in this box'o'yarn!
Beautiful knitting. Your 15 colour stealth project has piqued my imagination.
