To follow up from the last post, neither of the candidates whom I canvassed for won seats in the state legislature, but they both were only 9 percentage points behind the incumbents, so that is promising for 2020.
John was here for almost a week at Thanksgiving. It seems the only time he ever smiles in a photo is when he's with his Aunt Les! Any photos of him next to his sister look like he's trying to avoid cooties.
I finished this WWII chest protector while he was here so could send it back with him. I made him one several years ago which he still wears. He likes that he can pull the turtleneck up over his face if needed.
He sent a text message yesterday asking if I could send the pattern for this hat as a coworker wants one (assuming he or she knits or knows someone who does). The pattern is Scotty's Hat and I made 3 of them in December 2009, the year it was published, one for each of the guys. It's nice to know my son is still wearing it after 9 years.
Some other FO's from the past couple of months: The Daisy Fields Market Tote, my most ambitious crochet project, took three start-overs, including a change of yarn, but it turned out OK.
Another Little Coffee Bean, done as a knit-along with my friend Deb who is a new knitter.
The beautiful Ojo de Dios Shawl which I queued the moment I saw it a few years ago in Interweave Knits. I used the same colorway as the original.
These cute Silver Bells Christmas Trees are like potato chips- you can't knit just one. A great stash buster.
I am thankful for the comfort of knitting as each day seems to bring more and more horrifying words and deeds from the evil man in the White House. Those in the government and his 'base' who support him appear beyond saving. Another source of comfort is one of my current reads:
Michelle Obama grew up in a family that truly taught and practiced good values- education, respect, love, family togetherness, community...and she chose a husband who shared those values. America was blessed to have the Obamas in the White House for eight years. I pray that once the current inhabitant is ousted that we are fortunate enough to again elect a president of Barack Obama's caliber.
I had the book reserved at our library, but was away when it was my turn. Will try again. Cute little trees, going to look at that pattern right now.
