Can't stop with the Indie Cowl! (It's actually called the Indie Circular Scarf.)
#2 was made with Sirdar Faroe, an acrylic/cotton/wool blend, in the Windgrass colorway, a lovely watercolor greeny-blue.
#3, made with Indie in 'Yucatan'. My sister Les was visiting and ended up with cowls 1 (shown last post), 2, and 3! I forgot to take pics of 2 and 3 before she left, so she sent me the above using her phone. Colors are much prettier in real life.
And I just cast off #4, in Indie 'Montevideo':
I needed this quick and easy project following the two 'Ughs' I recently finished and will never wear- the Loretto Vest and my second Golden Wheat, shown in the 9/21 post. I did finish the GW, but as with the first one, don't like the fit. Even more, I hate the scratchy feel! I think I've finally learned my lesson and will never again knit anything with the tiniest bit of alpaca. Do not like it!
Not only was my sister staying with us over the Columbus Day weekend, but our son John was here for 10 days from Alaska, for my dad's annual birthday party. This year we also included a memorial for my Aunt Nat, who died in April. Her wish was to have her ashes scattered at Sand Hill Cove, her favorite beach. It was a picture-perfect day for it.
It was the first time Les and John got to see my grand-niece Abby. She is the most adorable baby!!! I am especially partial to her as she is the third girl, as am I. You know, the one without all the photos in the photo album!
The knitting guild's October meeting was a special one as designer and Rhode Island native Deborah Newton gave a presentation. When I got into knitting seriously a couple of years before finding the guild, Deborah Newton was one of the names I'd come to know as I was attracted to her designs in the knitting magazines. (This was long before Ravelry!) So when I attended my first guild meeting in September of 1993, I was astounded that Deborah was speaking that night- a real knitting celebrity! That certainly made me happy I'd joined. Over the years I've knit several of her designs, including one of my very favorites, the Evergreen Vest, and three more are in the Ravelry queue.
I got autographed copies of her two newest books. Good Measure should help me avoid ill-fitting sweaters like those mentioned earlier. Though of course Deborah's 'secret' is the easiest one, but one I dislike- SWATCH FOR GAUGE!
