Not only is J home, weeks before expected, but so is K, who gave us no warning. I came home from work yesterday wondering where the piles of laundry, computer junk, and other trails of trash lying about the house had come from, when J informed me that she was home for the long weekend. Am I complaining? Not really. Especially as a few weeks ago I was worried because D and I are leaving tomorrow for NH for a few days, and was concerned about arranging for someone to care for the pets. The cats are not a problem, but the dog takes several medications, and now the chickens are thrown into the mix as well. Our neighbor had agreed to do it, which I knew he would, but I hate to impose. Anyway, with both kids here, problem solved.
School has gotten off to a good start, even though my shared room has been downsized once again. It is only temporary until the middle school addition is completed in December.
I have hardly touched any knitting all week, but have pictures of where I am on the Owls sweater and the Harry Potter scarf. I put Owls on waste yarn to so K could try it on for length and to see when to start the underarms. Shown is the back with its waist shaping. The HP scarf consists of 19 stripes of 22 rows each, knit in the round to make a double layer tube which will be enclosed by tassels on each end. One might go insane if they hate endless rounds of knitting, but I am finding it to be true comfort knitting as the yarn is so nice to work with. This will be my vacation knitting.
Everything worked out just fine! Your new projects seem to be humming along so nicely. Hope you enjoy your vacation!

It's so much better being away when the animals are well looked after. We've recently found a good sitter for Gracee. Never thoguht about the chickens though ;-)
