Or Hey Teach part II. I managed to get some modeled shots, appropriately, as I wore it today on my first day back to school. (Kids start Thursday.) You see I changed from 4 buttons down the front to 3 just on the top portion.
The reason I was able to have the photos taken is because the second string photographer is back. John, who thought he would be in California several more weeks, called Friday to say he would be home the next day. And he was, (with the annoying glitch after a very long day traveling to find his 10 year old Beetle wouldn't start at the airport parking lot, and had to have AAA tow it home.) Told you the nest wouldn't be empty for long! I had just cut back to buying half gallons of milk instead of gallons because we weren't drinking them fast enough and more than once had to pour some down the drain because it had turned before we finished it. No fear of that now as J is making up for 3 1/2 months of coffee milk withdrawal.
We are now down to 8 chickens. We witnessed a loose dog taking off with one of them a few weeks ago, and am pretty sure that's what got the others. As they grow they are becoming easier to tell apart. Two definitely stand out. Giovanna was the first to develop a big red comb and wattles, and she has SOME personality. When anyone goes into the pen to toss them some yummy 'scratch', 7 chickens are content to eat it off the ground. But Giovanna will come up to you, looking you in the eye and clucking, until you let her eat out of your hand. It was a little scary at first as those beaks are pretty hard and sharp, but it doesn't really hurt.
The other standout is Leslie (named after my sister at her request). She is notable for her goofy little floppy comb that doesn't stand up like the others'. (The chicken, not the sister.) She will often follow Giovanna's lead in the hand feeding. You can hardly step out the backdoor anymore without getting charged by a herd of chickens expecting a handout!
(Giovanna is in the first 3 pictures and Leslie at the bottom.)
That's so frustrating about the dog!

Your new sweater is lovely and perfect for school! I bet you'll be wearing it a lot!
I'm sorry you've lost some chicks, hopefully the others will be wary of the dog and do well. I love the pics and reading about them.

Your sweater looks great on you, and is just right for this time of year!
I'm sad to hear that you've lost the four chickens (when they have names, that must be especially hard!!). I hope you don't lose any more, and that the neighbors will get better control of their dog. Do you have any fresh eggs yet?
