Official heat waves are 3 days in a row of 90 degree F temperatures. It has only been in the upper 80's here for many days, with tomorrow supposed to be the hottest. For me it feels like a genuine heat wave.
I've been going out as early as possible to ride, around 6:30 a.m., before it gets unbearable. Today I hit 400 miles (since June 26.)
Yesterday J and I went out to lunch with my dad, and also took home the extra chair he no longer needed in his smaller apartment. Naturally, as soon as it entered our house Ruby decided it was the perfect spot for napping.
The new VK 25th anniversary edition is nice. I like how they feature several covers at the beginning spotlighting different yarn companies, each with a free pattern to download, all with a silver/gray theme for the anniversary. There is a section featuring "top hit" patterns from years past, with updated versions in the magazine. I haven't read it cover to cover yet, but here is one pattern whose looks I like: a raglan cabled A-line by Gayle Bunn, in Cascade Venezia. Though just looking at it today makes me feel even hotter. My main complaint as usual has to do with the models , at least in the "Textured Messages" section. I swear those two little girls can be no more than 14.
Hazel is moving right along. Only a couple of inches before beginning the armhole decreases- should get at least that far today.
I skipped biking yesterday. I don't know if I'll make it out today either...it is sooo hot! A good day for knitting in the air conditioning and looking at the new Vogue too.

OK, Congratulations on 400 miles!! (and I'm sorry for filling your inbox). Chris and I went for a short ride last night but it's been so hot, I don't know if we'll get out tomorrow or not.
Thank you for the comments on the VK. It sounds interesting and I'll have to take a look!
Are those bachelor buttons? They look so pretty!
