The leaves are now gone, but for a day or two our backyard was suffused by a golden glow from the leaves covering the encircling maple trees. Even on a gray day, that little space seemed bathed in sunshine. One evening the sunset and light were especially magnificent, though these photographs could not truly capture them.
Handsome Tuffy looked as if he had stepped into a Matisse painting.
Also golden- my Golden Wheat Cardigan.

What a fantastic pattern. It's knit top down. As I mentioned before, checking the FOs on Ravelry you can see it looks good on anybody, and though it's the same pattern, depending on yarn chosen, they all have a unique look. The Birch yarn is discontinued, and I got it on sale from Webs specifically for this pattern. The 90/10 cotton/silk blend is not my favorite to work with, more rustic looking and not as smooth and even as wool, but the end product is still nice. I used the same toggles I used for my dad's vest. More pics on my project page. I'd like to make this again in wool- maybe there is a sister out there who would be interested?
I wet blocked the sweater Friday. It was still damp on Sunday and I wanted to wear that afternoon, so I tossed it in the dryer for 10 minutes and voila- it came out dry and undamaged and ready to wear. You really want to wear one of your knits if you are going to an afternoon with local author and knitter Ann Hood, speaking on her new book, Knitting Yarns!
The event was sponsored by Eneri Knits at the Celestial Cafe, and was sold out. I have read several of Ann's books but had never met her or heard her speak. She was great, funny and moving. Our ticket included Celestial Cafe's delicious locally sourced appetizers as well as autographed copies of Knitting Yarns. The book, edited by Ann, is a collection of essays by writers, many of whom you will recognize, on the role of knitting in their lives.
On Saturday the kids and I went to NY to see Les and do our touristy thing. We let son-in-law Dan set the agenda as the rest of us have been there many a time. So, we had the NY pizza at Joe's, cupcakes at Molly's, an NBC studio tour, and Thai for supper. He can now check those items off his bucket list.
