The vest and the baby sweater are both more than half-way finished. Above is the left front of the cable vest in the midst of blocking, and you can see the collar extension on waste yarn, which will be grafted to the right front collar extension.
I don't usually make New Year's resolutions, but apparently I did this year. Feeling stuck in the comfortable same old same old, I resolved to do one new thing each month. It could be as simple as driving down a road never taken, or trying a new restaurant. I also want to do more volunteering, or make some small difference for good. For January I'll count going to a sit-and-knit at Eneri Yarn- which was actually my second time, but I'd like to try and make it monthly. I also spent a few hours at local church, ironing fabric which was passed along to pinners, cutters, and sewers, to be made into dresses for children in Appalachia, North Dakota, Haiti, and Africa.
In February, D and I are attending a series of three layman's astronomy classes at the Frosty Drew Nature Center. I've been doing an astronomy unit with a life skills class at school and will use the little star clock activity from the first astronomy class with the kids. I've always wanted to go to the open planterium nights on Fridays, too.
Except for one gone-before-you-know-it snow storm and a handful of frigid days, it's been a remarkably mild winter. Still, Cow enjoys napping on a warm radiator with a frilly pink scarf for a pillow.
Your resolutions are great and it's nice to hear you're following through. At our age it can be easy to get stuck in a rut and learning new things is a way to stay young. And the volunteering is great too. You really can't feel too sorry for yourself when you're helping out someone else.

It is always nice to try new things. We have a fabulous planetarium here and the man in charge came to my friend's school so all the children could look at the stars. Your vest and little cardi are looking lovely!! Nice for Cow to have such a warm cosy place to sleep!!

Cow is soooo cute! My grand-mother had a cat who wouldn't sleep anywhere else than on a radiator!
I like the left front of your vest, cable/yarn/gauge together look great!
