Several southern New England bloggers met for an afternoon at the incomparable Sakonnet Purls on Saturday. Some of us had met once before in November at KnitWits (see posts for November 18 & 19), including Debby, Sarah, and Erika. But there were several new faces: Cindy, Carol, KImberly, Greeley, and her friend blogless Heather. It was a gorgeous day and we could have sat outside on the beautiful grounds, but instead sat and knit and chatted in the large meeting room. (In between forays to scope out the store and to shop.)
Computer-savvy Kimberly had a great idea - she is going to set up an Ocean State knitting bloggers webring. It won't be limited to bloggers living in the Ocean State (Rhode Island), but to anyone with any connection to RI, like having lived or gone to school here, driven through, eaten a quahog, etc. So that would include people like Erika, who is soon to move to Washington State, Debby, who lives in nearby CT, and Theresa, who attended Brown and then moved across country for her internship, etc.
Here's what I bought. Four skeins of Nashua Creative Focus, intended for the Tasha Tudor shawl. One skein of Karabella Gossamer for a simple triangle scarf. Both in aqua/turquoise, which for some reason I couldn't resist. And six buttons for the Chevron Shadows vest. This vest is knitting up fast using Berroco Suede, and I love it!
J was somewhat disappointed that the 800 lb. helicopter engine he hauled home only netted him $50, nearly enough to fill the truck's gas tank.

Hey, I qualify - having lived there three separate times and was married there. I also have a brother that still lives there. Keep me posted.

I qualify too! I went to Brown but unfortunately never ate a quahog. I also missed out on that syrup everyone is always talking about. So maybe I don't qualify after all...

Thanks so much for organizing the afternoon. It was a beautiful day to knit (and shop) and I really enjoyed seeing you and the other knitters again.
That aqua color keeps calling me too, even though I'm a pink girl. I think it's the summertime and the ocean that does it. :)

From all the posts I've seen, this looks like a great time! I was sorry to miss it -- I'll make the next one for sure!
